
The University of Dar es Salaam has announced the promotion of several academic staff members following rigorous evaluations by the Appointments Committee and the University Council. The promotions, effective 20th June 2025, include advancements from Lecturer to Senior Lecturer, Senior Lecturer to Associate Professor, and Associate Professor to Professor.
According to a press release signed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic, Prof. Bonaventure Rutinwa, the following staff members were promoted from Lecturer to Senior Lecturer:

Dr. Mamta T. Pandey (F) from the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, College of Social Sciences (CoSS), earned 5.00 points from publications and teaching since her last promotion in January 2015.

Dr. Teresia E. Nkya (F) of the Department of Microbiology/Immunology and Parasitology/Entomology, Mbeya College of Health and Allied Sciences (MCHAS), accumulated 5.12 points since her promotion in May 2019.

Dr. Dotto P. Kuhenga (M) from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC), achieved 5.00 points from publications and teaching since his last promotion in July 2020.
In a separate statement from the University Council, the following academic staff were promoted from Associate Professor to Professor:

Prof. Stephen O. Maluka (M), Institute of Development Studies (IDS), accumulated 9.20 points (including 6.50 from journal articles, 0.70 from consultancy, and 2 from teaching) since his promotion in October 2019.

Prof. Gastor C. Mapunda (M), Department of Foreign Languages and Linguistics, College of Humanities (CoHU), earned 10.07 points (8.07 from journal articles and 2 from teaching) since January 2019.
The University also promoted Dr. Elisante E. Mshiu (M) from Senior Lecturer to Associate Professor. Dr. Mshiu, of the Department of Geosciences, School of Mines and Geosciences (SoMG), accumulated 8.050 points, including 5.287 from journal articles, 0.250 from a book chapter and conference proceedings, 0.513 from consultancy, and 2 from teaching since his promotion in September 2020.
The University congratulated all the promoted staff for their achievements and commitment to academic excellence.
