The Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to Sweden, His Excellency Mobhare Matinyi, led a delegation of Tanzanian embassy and government institutions in a strategic meeting with businessmen and investors from the Sweden Africa Chamber of Commerce, which convened on 6 February, 2026, at the Tanzanian Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden.
The embassy hosted the meeting to highlight business and investment opportunities available in Tanzania, as well as to lay out the favourable investment incentives that the government has put in place. The Swedish delegation was led by the president of the chamber, Ms. Åsa Jarskog, while on the part of Tanzania, in addition to the embassy, government institutions participated through a video link from Dar es Salaam.
The institutions that leveraged the opportunity to expound on numerous issues were the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA), Bank of Tanzania (BoT), Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), Business Registration and Licensing Agency (BRELA), as well as the leadership of the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) and the Tanzania National Chamber of Commerce (TNCC) and their esteemed members.
His. Exc. Ambassador Matinyi clarified the direction of the Tanzanian government on trade and investment in accordance with its 2050 Development Vision, and the government's plans to maintain stability in the country. In elaborating the country’s ambitions, His. Exc. Ambassador Matinyi took cues from three speeches by Her Excellency President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.
The speeches included her remarks during the inauguration of the 13th Union Parliament on 14 November 2025; a speech to members of the diplomatic corps at the New Year Sherry Party held at the Chamwino State House on 15 January 2026; and herstatement at the World Government Summit (WGS) during the launch of the Global Africa Investment Forum (GAIS), held on 5 February 2026, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In his presentation, His. Exc. Ambassador Matinyi informed the meeting that the key sectors Tanzania is currently driving investment into include energy, manufacturing, agribusiness, forestry, the blue economy, the digital economy, tourism, criticalminerals, infrastructure, and transportation. The ambassador mirrored the president’s speeches saying, "Tanzania has long been an investment magnet and remains open for even more investors".
Following the session, several Swedish companies have begun preliminary discussions with the embassy seeking inroads in exploring waste-to-energy opportunities and medical technology, two areas in which Sweden is a leader in Europe.
The session resolved to request the embassy in collaboration with the chamber and Qatar Airways to organise a trade and investment mission to Tanzania in September or October this year to probe existing investment opportunities and the incentives that the Government of Tanzania is providing.
